The REBAL operator represents the transfer of rows between symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) subagents. SMP subagents used for table and index scans are given specific ranges to work on, keeping them in balance. For operations like row filtering and joins can cause subagents to have imbalanced workloads. The REBAL operator restores balance from these subagents.
