LAZYWRITER_SLEEP

Short Description

Occurs when lazywriter tasks are suspended. This is a measure of the time spent by background tasks that are waiting. Do not consider this state when you are looking for user stalls.

Detailed Description

The lazywriter is one of three methods that flush dirty pages from the buffer cache to disk. The lazywriter runs in the background looking for infrequently accessed pages and frees up memory by writing them to disk. The LAZYWRITER_SLEEP is not generally considered when looking at waits as this just shows it waiting to do its next sweep.

How to reduce this wait

This is not usually seen as an issue area.
